Smoothness & Porosity Tester (Bendtsen Type)

Surface smoothness and air permeance — Bendtsen air-flow method

The Smoothness & Porosity Tester (Bendtsen Type) is used for evaluating the smoothness (surface roughness) and air permeance (porosity) of paper, paperboard and other sheet materials. It operates on the Bendtsen air-flow method, where air is allowed to pass between a defined area and the surface of the test piece under a specified pressure. The amount of air flow is measured and indicates the smoothness or porosity of the material. The instrument is widely used in paper mills, packaging industries, printing units and quality control laboratories.
