Laboratory hand-sheet preparation for testing
The Sheet Former (SCA Model) is used to prepare standard laboratory hand-sheets from pulp suspensions for subsequent testing of strength, optical and other physical properties. A measured volume of diluted pulp suspension is poured into the cylindrical column and drained through a wire screen under controlled conditions. The resulting wet sheet is couched, pressed and dried to produce a hand-sheet of consistent grammage and formation. This instrument is essential for pulp evaluation, recipe development and research work in paper and pulp laboratories.
